Jesse in Pink (DVD Review)

When Celeste makes a movie, you would be right in thinking it’s going to have blissful piano music, opulent sets, gorgeous women, beautiful men, no dialogue, and settings that belong on the Home and Garden network. Except this time you’d be wrong. Enlisting Robby D as DP (it’s always kinda hard not to laugh at that term), Celeste takes a different angle with Jesse in Pink, showing off some of the rock video look and wacky jump cuts that Robby’s known for; she also loses the piano music in favor of a freaky, funky electronic soundtrack, creating a feel triangulated between white girl hip hop, electroclash porno and Moby on Viagra. Its stars, as with all Celeste’s offerings, are ultra-Valley chic, gorgeous to most eyes but, for my money, too augmented and too perfect. (Note to self: Bring Jesse Jane a ham sandwich next time you interview her).
