Religious Right: “Just Because There’s More Porn Doesn’t Mean People Like It”

There’s a new XBiz story about demands from right-wing groups that the Feds prosecute more softcore porn. In it appears a real gem from Robert Peters, president of Morality in Media. After claiming that the government does nothing to stop the mainstreaming of porn by prosecuting Evil Angel, Peters lays it on the line with some steaming doublethink:

Peters asserted that, despite the proliferation of pornography in American society and the “mainstreaming” of adult content, Americans are not accepting of pornography.

“Just because there’s a lot of pornography around doesn’t mean the American people accept it,” Peters said.

Which is what I’ve been saying all along, and especially when I watch a mainstream porn flick: It’s gotta be space aliens buying this stuff.
