Dollhouse Fans Campaign to Save Show (No, it Hasn’t Premiered Yet)

According to a story in Wired, Joss Whedon’s fans are desperately trying to save his new show “Dollhouse,” even though it won’t be on the air for another eight months.  Apparently these folks are still smarting from Firefly — and who can blame ’em?

The show concerns “a group of high-tech killer assassins.” Said Dollhouse forums leader Nathan, “After seeing some of my favorite television shows get canceled in the past — as well as the ‘save this show’ campaigns that followed — I had the idea that a fan campaign BEFORE the show begins may be the best thing to do.”

According to another Wired article, Whedon is also working on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, a 3-part internet musical about a supervillain. Sci Fi Wire reports that “Whedon anticipates his sci-fi sing-a-long will first appear online, and then likely as a release on iTunes and DVD,” since apparently iTunes does not qualify as “online.”

I think “online” means at Whedon’s website, where you can find a link to a Dollhouse trailer but not an application for membership, because you can’t join. Their resources do not allow. WTF?
